Facilities Progress Report

With the improvements at Hockinson High School all but complete, and the Middle School well on its way, it’s an exciting time to be a Hawk and a Hornet!
These carefully planned and executed projects are enhancing student learning opportunities—thanks to the generosity of our community, which approved the construction bond in 2015.

Here’s the latest—from May 2017!

Hockinson High School

Hockinson will celebrate the completion of HHS improvements—the band room, fieldhouse, fields, courts, stadium and parking lot—with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, June 2.

Still to be completed: some grading and grass planting, and installation of additional sidewalks.

Hockinson Middle School

Although the HMS project lost about 90 calendar days due to the cold and rain this winter and spring, our middle school students can still expect to start school Sept. 6 in the new building.

The plan is for teaching pods, kitchen, cafeteria, administration offices, bus loop and student drop-off area to be ready to go for that first day of school. A month or two later, Phase 2 of the new building will open, bringing the art room, STEM classroom, band room and gymnasiums online.

The project is far ahead of its original schedule, which did not plan for demolition of the old Middle School until June 2018. In that plan, the track would have been installed in 2018, and the field would have been ready in spring of 2019.

The updated schedule has demolition happening in June 2017 and the field ready for use in spring 2018. The track is already complete.
