Comprehensive Sexual Health Education for HMS students grades 6-8 will take place April 10-14. Families have the right to review the HSD-approved textbook and materials and to opt students out of all or part of the sexual health education lessons.

Per Washington State law, Hockinson Middle School will provide comprehensive sexual health education and HIV / AIDS instruction to all students in grades 6-8. HMS will provide this instruction in science classes during the week of April 10 – 14, 2023. As a parent, you have the right to review the Board approved textbook and materials and to opt your child out of all or part of the sexual health education lessons. If your child will participate in all comprehensive sexual health education and HIV / AIDS lessons, you do not need to take any action. If you would like your child to be opted out of part or all of the lessons, please complete and return the attached opt-out form to HMS by March 31, 2023. If your child is opted out of instruction, they will receive an alternate assignment to complete in a separate location.
