Replace Aging Roofs and HVACs
In a district-wide family survey this spring, responding families ranked replacement of the HVACs and roofs at HHS, HHES, and Hockinson Community Center/ District Office as priority #4 of 4.
Why are HVAC and roof replacements a priority?
The roofs and HVAC systems across these facilities have been reliable for many years, but they are now approaching or have already reached the end of their operational lifespans. The composition roofing at HHES, HHS, HCC and the District Office are at or nearing their maximum life span of 20-25 years. Similarly, HVAC units are also nearing the end of their maximum lifespan. At the Hockinson Community Center, three heat pumps are currently failing.
HVAC systems and roofs maintain the comfort and safety of students and staff. Roofs also protect school structures from moisture/weather events.
Rising Costs
Over the past five years, the cost of HVAC equipment and roofing materials has significantly increased. This rise in costs means that further delays to replace HVAC units and roofing could lead to higher expenses in the future.
