School Wellness Information

Welcome to the Hockinson School District Wellness Page!

We are pleased to provide you with information on our local school wellness policy along with resources to help your students and your family be the healthiest they can be.

Our district Wellness Committee promotes student wellness by developing, implementing and reviewing district policy for nutrition guidelines, nutrition education and promotion, physical education and activity, and other school-based activities.

Why do we have a Wellness Committee/Policy?

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 made significant changes to the federal school lunch program, including setting new nutrition standards and promoting student wellness. Districts are required to establish wellness policies, designate officials to ensure policy compliance, encourage public comment and input, and assess the district’s progress made in attaining wellness goals.
