The HHS Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams started the season on the right foot with strong performances at the Clark County Cross Country Jamboree held on Sept. 3 at Vancouver Lake Park.

Graysen Aldridge finished atop the field of seniors in the girls 2 mile race with a time of 11:29.06. Meanwhile, senior Tanner Hood ran the 2 mile course in 9:56.51 - just 30 seconds off the top time in the boys race.

A number of other HHS runners finished at the top of their divisions, including freshmen girls Sydney Muhonen (12:49.68) and Porsche DeHart (13:31.42) and senior boys Skyler Picard (11:21.95) and Bjorn Lundsgaarde (11:31.60) finished in the Top 25.

Such strong times came as no surprise to Head XC Coach Melissa Peterson. "The kids have worked really hard over the summer getting in their mileage and strength training in the weight room," said Peterson. "Both teams have lofty goals and are on the right track after strong performances by our team captains (Graysen and Tanner) and multiple other PRs."

"This was a nice opportunity for our runners to race and gauge where they're at as we head into our first league meet on Wednesday against Woodland and turn around and compete in the (Steve Maas) Run-a-ree on Friday," added Peterson.

The Hawks have their eyes on the District and State Meets, but understand that they have to first prove themselves over a 9-meet season that takes them across the county and across the state. See their full schedule here.
