Emphasis on Student Growth

Early Literacy

In 2025-2030, Hockinson School District will strengthen early literacy by implementing a new English Language Arts (ELA) program at Hockinson Heights Elementary (HHES) focused on strong foundational handwriting, phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, and comprehension skills.

Due to a change in the measurements of ELA learning, updated baseline data will be collected in the 2025-26 school year and published to the Annual Report in February 2026.

Grade-Level Cohort Improvements

Students in Class of 2028, Class of 2029 and Class of 2030 cohorts have demonstrated academic growth through Standard Balanced Assessment (SBA) test scores over the course of their academic careers.

In 2025-2030, Hockinson School District will implement assessment calendars and use interim block assessments to help schools identify which students are meeting grade-level expectations and which might need extra support, guiding instruction and early intervention.
