Vehicle entrance to HHES following pothole repair.

Over Spring Break, contractors re-graded and added asphalt to areas along the vehicle entrances to HHES. At the same time, “No Parking” areas were demarcated immediately adjacent to these widened access and exit points. This project has a number of benefits: 1. The grading improves water drainage away from paved areas; 2. The added asphalt will inhibit potholes that were continually created by cars driving over dirt and gravel; and 3. The “No Parking” areas will allow drivers a better view of road traffic before pulling out onto 164th St.

On a post-Bond survey, respondents identified “Improve Traffic Flow at HHES,” along with school safety improvements and portable removal at HHES, as top priorities. While this project is a small, but important, safety and traffic upgrade, the upcoming $12.7 School Safety & Security Capital Levy would fund larger improvement projects on the campus.

We could not maintain our facilities without the support of the Hockinson community; current levy dollars are a critical resource that make these improvements possible. On behalf of everyone who drives in and out of our schools every day: Thank you, Hockinson community!
