It's apparent that the Hawks like to get involved and compete. This past season 22% of the school's 680 students were involved in a Winter Sport. That may not seem as impressive as the 35% involvement percentage in Fall Sports until one considers that HHS has only five sport offerings (versus eight in the fall and seven in the spring).

Two programs, Boys Swimming and Boys Wrestling, team, celebrated team championships. For the wrestlers, it was the first league title in the school's 22-year history. Meanwhile, the Boys Swim Team won the District IV Swim Meet for the third time in the past four years.

Both programs also sent qualifiers on to state competition - and the school made sure it was a spirited send-off! On Thursday, Feb. 20, the HHS student body and Band joined together to perform the HHS Fight Song as the state-bound athletes paraded through the school's commons before traveling north to the King County Aquatic Center and Tacoma Dome, where they translated that enthusiasm into a number of individual accomplishments.

Members of the Boys Swim Team - Nick Stanley, Ryder Hough, Adam Wendler, and Dilan Anderson - placed 8th in the 200m Medley Relay. Hough also posted strong times in the 200m and 500m Freestyle as did Dilan Anderson in the 100m Freestyle and Evan Bergstrom in the 100m Backstroke. In the Mat Classic State Wrestling Tournament, wrestlers Teagan Trenda finished 4th and Jasper Armstrong and Jake McKee both finished 5th place in their respective weight divisions.

Congratulations to all of our Winter Sports Athletes and thank you to the Hockinson community for making these experiences possible for our students. HHS and HMS athletics and coaches are nearly 100% levy-funded. HHS Spring Sports - Baseball, Softball, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, and Boys Soccer - began on Monday, March 3. HMS Boys and Girls Track begins on Monday, April 14! Both HMS and HHS families can register athletes for Spring Sports here.
