HHS Band at Columbia Basin College Band Festival 2025.

National Music Week highlights the power of music to spark creativity, promote discipline and teamwork, support academics, and build community. It also emphasizes the important role music plays in student development, both in and beyond the classroom.

Thanks to the Hockinson community's support of our EP&O Levy and band parent fundraising efforts, the HSD is able to provide students with a top quality TK-12 music education experience. From classes and concerts at the elementary level to award-winning performances, music continues to enrich the student experience across Hockinson’s schools.

This week, we acknowledge the student musicians, educators, and families who help create Hockinson’s vibrant music community.

HHES Student Musicians

Students at HHES build their musical foundation through grade-level performances and classroom instruction led by Ms. Miles and Ms. Ramirez. Pictured here are general music education students learning fan dancing in honor of the Lunar New Year.

HMS Band

Participation in HMS Band, led by Jennifer Ritenburgh, gives students the opportunity to build confidence and a lifelong appreciation for music. Pictured is the 8th-grade band performing at the LCRMEA Band Festival, where they received three Superior ratings along with valuable feedback.

HHS Band

HHS Band continues to thrive under the direction of Corey McEnry. Pictured are the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band at the Columbia Basin College Band Festival, where both groups earned recognition for their outstanding performances.
