Group of students in gym at college and career fair event.

Middle and high school students gathered in the HHS gym this week for the annual Launch Fair. The event was designed to help students explore future career paths and post-secondary education options. Students had the opportunity to connect directly with professionals representing a wide variety of industries ranging from law enforcement to engineering and business.

Eighth graders walked from Hockinson Middle School to Hockinson High School to join the event.

“Our 8th graders had a great time learning about jobs, careers, and college,” said (name). “It was especially fun for them to see familiar HHS faces from last year.”

The fair featured representatives from local and regional partners, including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Toyota, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Clark College, and many more. Booths offered hands-on materials, information about educational and career pathways, and opportunities for students to ask questions and engage in conversation.

Events like the Launch Fair support Hockinson School District’s commitment to future readiness. This is a multi-phase approach that begins in elementary school and continues through graduation:

  • Phase 1: Career Exploration at Hockinson Heights Elementary School

  • Phase 2: Career Preparation at Hockinson Middle School

  • Phase 3: Career Launch at Hockinson High School

Looking ahead, Class of 2025 seniors and their families are invited to the Rising Seniors Night on May 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the MPR. Learn more about senior year, scholarships, and postsecondary planning. Refreshments will be served. To RSVP, email cree.reynolds@hocksd.org.
