4 year-old students play with robots on a tabletop.

This week at Hockinson Heights Elementary School, Transition to Kindergarten students got a hands-on introduction to robotics and coding through a fun activity called "Robot Land."

Students began by drawing their own neighborhood scenes complete with roads, buildings, and parks. Once their neighborhoods were complete, each student powered on an Ozobot and watched as it navigated coded pathways.

This activity is part of an early STEM initiative aimed at helping young learners develop foundational technology skills. Through creative exploration and interactive tools, students are beginning to understand the basics of coding and robotics in an age-appropriate and engaging way.

Hockinson School District continues to support programs that make learning exciting and relevant for all students, starting from their very first years in the classroom.
