On February 11, HHS student Kaia Sanderfer participated in CPR training at school as part of the Integrated Schools CPR Program led by Clark County Fire District 3. Just hours later, Kaia returned home and found her grandmother unresponsive. Thanks to the training she had received that day at HHS, Kaia immediately began CPR and called 911.
Her quick response likely saved her grandmother’s life, said EMS Training Captain Dustin Waliezer of Fire District 3.
The two-day training at Hockinson High School emphasizes the importance of bystander CPR, which can increase survival rates by up to 90% if started within the first four minutes.
We are incredibly proud of Kaia for her courage and grateful to our partners at Clark County Fire District 3 for providing this essential training to our students. Kaia’s grandmother has since made a full recovery—a powerful reminder of the impact this program can have.
