Talk about stealing the show!
Twenty-eight Hockinson High School thespians participated in the Regional Thespys event on January 17 at Capital High School in Olympia. What is "The Thespys?" Thespys are performance and technical theatre showcases in which students present their best work, receive rubric-based feedback from judges, and can qualify for advanced competition.
The students competed in multiple categories, both for individual and group performances (musical and non-musical), as well as several tech categories and the short film category. According to HHS Theatre Director Stephanie Evans, "These performances are almost exclusively student-led, representing [aspects of theater] that they work on outside of class time to bring to the competition."
Scores were released on Monday, January 26 and the following students scored "Superior" (National Qualifier) and/or "Excellent" (State Honoree):
