Every year, the Washington State Patrol inspects school buses across the state to ensure that districts meet strict safety standards. We are excited to report that the Hockinson School District earned a Letter of Achievement from the Washington State Patrol and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for meeting those standards for the 2025-26 school year. This is the second straight year that HSD buses have received this distinction.
The below letter credits the district’s transportation team for their dedication to student safety on every bus ride to and from school and extracurricular activities. This commitment starts on our campuses and extends throughout the school day.

According to HSD Superintendent Steve Marshall, the award reflects the district's commitment to student safety as well as the dedication of its student transportation staff. "Safety is our priority from the moment students board the bus in the morning to the moment they arrive home. We appreciate First Student’s partnership and their collective commitment to keeping our kids safe,” said Marshall.
Transportation Director Brandon Case agreed with Marshall, adding: "As our name indicates, we really do our best to put the students first and students are synonymous with safety. Our mechanics are some of the best in the business. They are skilled, thorough, and are constantly updating their skills. That translates to well-maintained buses, which ensures that our students get to where they're going safely."
