PUBLIC NOTICE: 

NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY AND INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS - DISTRICT #5, HOCKINSON SCHOOL DISTRICT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a vacancy exists on the Board of Directors of the Hockinson School District #98 due to the recent resignation of Board Member Gordon Smith. The Board of Directors is now seeking qualified and interested community members to apply to fill this vacancy.

Term of Office:

The appointed individual will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment until November 2027, at which time the seat will be subject to the next regular school board election.

Qualifications for Office:

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must meet the following legal requirements:

  • Be a registered voter.

  • Be a citizen of the United States.

  • Reside within the boundaries of Hockinson School District within Director District #5.

  • Not be an employee of Hockinson School District.

Application Process:

Interested individuals must submit a completed application packet that includes:

  1. A completed School Board Application Form.

  2. A current resume or curriculum vitae.

Deadline for Submission:

All application materials must be received by the District Administration Office no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026. Postmarks will not be accepted. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Interview and Selection Timeline:

  • Review of Applications: Week of September 7, 2026.

  • Public Interviews of Candidates: Monday, September 14, 2026 beginning at 6:00 pm during the School Board Work Session. 

  • Appointment and Oath of Office: Monday, September 29, 2026 during the School Board Regular Meeting.
