Hockinson Middle School is rolling out FastBridge, a new universal academic screener that provides a quick snapshot of where students are in their learning. The screener helps teachers identify skills students have already mastered and areas where they need additional support in reading, math and other areas.

Unlike the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA), which measures learning at the end of an instructional period, FastBridge is a formative tool designed to guide instruction throughout the school year. The screening process is quick, meaning students spend less time in front of a screen while teachers receive timely information they can use to support each student’s growth.
