At the Hockinson School Board's regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 28, Harmina Mansur was sworn in as the Board’s District 5 Director. Mansur is an HSD parent and has chaired the district’s Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the past three years.

“Serving on the School Board allows me to give back to the community while supporting the mission of public education. It is an opportunity to help ensure that students have the resources, opportunities, and support they need to reach their full potential,”said Mansur.

On the Citizens Advisory Committee, Mansur helped to lead community outreach on important topics, bringing parent and community perspectives to the table in district decision-making. That experience will inform her work on the school board. 

“Harmina believes in public education. She brings a valuable perspective as an HSD parent and has shown a lot of leadership and commitment as the Chair of our district’s Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the past three years. In that role, she showed that she is a thoughtful collaborator, facilitating committee discussion as well as community outreach on issues facing our district,” said Superintendent Steve Marshall. “Harmina’s aware of what is going on in our schools and community and will be an excellent addition to the HSD School Board,” added Marshall.
