Hockinson High School students in grades 9-12 took an important step toward planning their futures on Oct. 19, attending the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) college fair in Portland, Oregon.
The field trip gave students an opportunity to explore postsecondary education options, connect with college representatives, and learn more about the programs and pathways available after graduation.
"When students participate in field trips and interact with local industry representatives at college and career fairs, they gain real-world context for their education," said Sarkinen. "The most rewarding part of my work is watching students discover their passions and gain the confidence to pursue them."
The experience was coordinated by HHS College & Career Specialist Angelina Sarkinen, 2026-27 AmeriCorps member Onika Estrada, and College & Career Readiness Advisor Cree Reynolds.
