The HHS Boys and Girls Cross Country turned in strong performances at today's 2A GSHL League Championships as they fine tune for the District and State Meets in the coming weeks. The meet was held at Lake Sacajawea Park in Longview, WA.
Seniors Graysen Aldridge (19:24.9) and Tanner Hood (16:21.5) finished atop the girls and boys standings, respectively. Their teammates also stepped up. Both squads finished as runners up - to Ridgefield (girls) and Washougal (boys) - but well ahead of the five remaining GSHL schools.
On the girls' side, Top 25 finishes were turned in by four freshmen: Sydney Muhonen (4), Porsche DeHart (16), Aubrey Chamberlain (20), and Cadence Stefani (22). Also, Addison Byes (26) ran a personal-best time.
Senior Skyler Picard (7) and Juniors Baker Anderson (13), Austin Chamberlain (15), and Logan Nantz, and Sophomore Braxtyn Muhonen (24) finished among the Top 25 finishers on the boys' side. Picard ran a season-best time, while Chamberlain and Nantz posted personal-best times.
Head Coach Melissa Peterson was excited by the runners' effort - and their results. "Both teams ran hard today and I think most of our kids were pleased with their times. I hope they bring the same kind of intensity and energy at the district meet next week," said Peterson.

Both teams now turn their attention to the District IV XC Meet at Lewis River Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 29. The State XC Meet will take place on Sat. Nov. 7 in Pasco, WA.
